9th European Hostel Meeting - Il Principe Events Conference Centre - Catania Sicily, March 2010

As the hostel infrastructure in Europe has grown the European Hostel Cooperation (EHC) was founded in order to meet the need for a hostel organisation that provides a network for the scene. The EHC is open to any hostel, and operates on a principle of cooperation to achieve the following:

• an impartial, independent institution that represents hostels to third parties

• a marketing tool for the low budget travel industry

• an information network between hostels

• a service provider for hostels (such as software, knowledge-exchange)

• an independent portal for low budget travelers, functioning as both an information resource and a booking tool (GOMIO.COM)

• an annual European hostel meeting

In the last six years the EHC has organized hostel meetings in Rome (2004), Prague (2005), Krakow (2006), Interlaken (2007), Barcelona (2008) and Dresden (2009).

In 2010 the European Hostel Meeting comes back to Italy in the stunning baroque city of Catania in Sicily. The meeting promises to be one of the biggest hostel conferences ever seen and a large supporting programme of tours and discounts around the island of Sicily is being organised as well as many events in Catania itself.
